Earlier this month, Albany’s Move Music Festival officially kicked off its search for bands, singer-songwriters, and other artists for its April 2016 festival.
The event, which is set for April 22-24, will celebrate its fifth anniversary of kicking off the Northeast spring/summer music festival season, has over the submissions since its 2011 founding. During the last four years, Move has featured such acts as the Wombats, Sean Rowe, Magic Man, Locksley, Young Magic, and Paranoid Social Club. The festival is known for its interactive round table discussions, in which musicians get to sit face-to-face with music industry VIPs and receive direct advice on ways to improve their careers. Past industry figures who have shared their knowledge with musicians include Bob Tulipan (former manager of PIL and the Psychedelic Furs), Decca label head Dave Novik, producers Tony Shimkim and Joe Blaney, reps from companies like BMI, ASCAP, Pledge Music, and MUSEBOX, and even yours truly.
