Even this far ahead of the return of their popular Summer Hoot music festival this August, roots Americana couple nonpareil Mike & Ruthy have reason to do some hootin’ of their own. The West Hurley duo and their fourth album, the Mike & Ruthy Band’s Bright As You Can (Humble Abode Music/Thirty Tigers Records), which they’ll celebrate this Saturday with a show at the Bearsville Theater.
Featuring guest appearances by Amy Helm, Aoife O’Donovan (Crooked Still), Marco Benevento and Ruthy’s dad, Grammy-winning fiddler Jay Ungar, Bright As You Can is available in CD, digital download, and gatefold double LP formats. The 14-song collection has drawn advance accolades from many a media organ, including the Boston Globe, who called it “a joyful document of a band rounding a corner and into a wide-open field of possibilities.”
