Beacon promoter James Keepnews keeps the good news coming for local lovers of out jazz and other forms of extreme music. Falling within the realm of the latter is New York grindcore trio Vomit Fist, who Keepnews is bringing to the Howland Cultural Center on June 30.

The band, which in 2015 was awarded Best Band Name by the Village Voice, is comprised of guitarist Nick Didkovsky (Fred Frith Guitar Quartet, Doctor Nerve, Häßliche Luftmasken), who has composed for a number of ensembles including Bang On A Can, ETHEL, and Meridian Arts Ensemble; drummer Leo Didkovsky (Diabolicus, Space Ass, Mucus), and singer Malcolm Hoyt (Adela and the Ucars, Space Ass, Mucus).

They describe their music as “fast, blackened grindcore,” which, judging by the video below for “Frogmen,” seems fairly accurate:

Vomit Fist will perform at the Howland Cultural Center in Beacon, New York, on June 30 at 8pm. 100 and Zero will open. Tickets are $10. For more information, call (845) 831-4988 or visit http://www.howlandculturalcenter.org/.
