Apres-Ski Spots in the Catskills and Hudson Valley

Nestled between the Catskills, Taconics, and Berkshires, the Hudson Valley is a premiere destination for skiing and snowboarding, with six ski resorts peppered throughout the region. The post-slopes drink and bite to eat is a perfect way to cap off a day on the mountain, and the region does not disappoint with a plethora of apres-ski spots serving up mouthwatering food, cold drinks, and even entertainment. Here are our Hudson Valley apres-ski spots, by mountain.

Hunter Mountain

Tannersville BBQ

The Notch is open Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings beginning at 5pm, offering visitors Asian-inspired small plates in a cozy setting. Head chef Anthony Gargano—who has Michelin-star kitchen experience—cooks up tasty street food favorites like fried dumplings ($11), bao buns with pork belly ($15), and fried chicken with Korean gochujang sauce ($16). The Notch also offers beer, spirits, and sake. Check the schedule for trivia and karaoke nights. At only five minutes from Hunter Ski Resort, it’s a great option for any skiers looking to decompress after a day on the slopes with Asian flavors and a view of the mountain.

Tabla, Tannersville

Tabla in Tannersville is a family run, farm to table Mediterranean restaurant serving all kinds of food and drink. Located in a space previously occupied by a barbecue joint, the restaurant aims to provide affordable dining options and livable wages for its employees. Its Mediterranean inspired menu features pizzas, clams, sausage apps, and a concise selection of mains, with a focus on sustainably sourced ingredients. Large plates include a 16-ounce ribeye (62), cavatelli with braised cumin lamb, green onion, and chili ($32), and whole fried black sea bass with romesco and braised greens ($42). Sides include papas bravas ($16) and seasonal veggies like carrots with harissa honey, lacinato kale, crispy peanut and chickpea ($16). Upstairs, there’s a gas fireplace that offers a cozy ambience for winter dining and apres-ski tapas and cocktails, and outside, the large creekside patio is open for dining.

Jagerberg, Hunter

A mere one-minute drive away from Hunter Ski Resort, Jagerberg serves up a comfy German beer hall experience. A rustic wood-sided interior with deep colors sets the ambiance for the tavern’s extensive range of drinks: German draft beers like the Catskill Brewery Nightshine ($9), domestic canned beers, hard cider, Austrian wines, and non-alcoholic options. Jagerberg also sells a variety of hearty fare with a German flair: options include shnitzel—chicken or flounder ($30) and sauerbraten ($34). And for the cheese-inclined, the tavern offers winter fondue nights! Jagerberg is open Friday through Monday.

Prospect at Scribner’s, Hunter

Prospect is the in-house restaurant and bar at Scribner’s Catskill Lodge, a three-minute drive from Hunter with views of the slopes. Their food and drink offerings are generally inspired by cuisine local to the Catskill region, and Prospect has multiple menus each with their own set of hours. The breakfast menu, served Monday through Thursday, 8am to 11am, includes Prospect pancakes ($16) and avocado toast ($15) for fueling up before you head out, while the dinner menu is served every day, 5pm to 9pm. There is a full bar plus a list of craft cocktails, including classics and custom concoctions. Finally, from 3pm to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays, the après-ski menu offers lip-smacking, calorie-rich options like Nutella hot chocolate ($6) and steak tacos ($17). Come for the food, stay for the gorgeous mountain views.

Hotel Lilien, Tannersville

Historic-estate-turned-inn Hotel Lilien is a mere three miles from Hunter Ski Resort. With a short-but-exceptional menu of accessible food and cocktails plus 18 guest rooms, a bar, and comfy lounge, it has a bit of everything. Open to guests and the public daily at 5pm, the lounge sports historic woodworking. A jukebox adds character to the bar, where guests can indulge in a range of wines, cocktails, and beers. Many of the draft beers offered come from local breweries. Bar bites include crispy fries ($6), a Mexican-style street corn ($14), and an English chicken curry ($17). 

Deer Mountain Inn, Tannersville

Deep colors and a crackling fireplace set a soothing ambiance in the Deer Mountain Inn’s restaurant and bar, which boasts scenic mountain views and is a brief seven-mile journey from Hunter. The space is open Thursday through Sunday from 5pm to 9pm (reservations encouraged), serving drinks, dinner, and dessert. Executive chef Corwin Kave uses predominantly local ingredients in the Deer Mountain Inn’s dishes, which include offerings like steelhead trout with sunflower curry ($48), smoked trout and corn fritters ($14), and a cheese plate with freshly made crackers ($32).

Woodstock Brewing, Phoenicia

Woodstock Brewing’s taproom is nestled in beautiful Phoenicia, right by the scenic Tremper Mountain and a brief 20-minute drive from Hunter Ski Resort. The 15-barrel brewery offers a range of beers on tap. Break out of the IPA monotony to try distinctive offerings like the Raspberry Gose and the Laconic, an oatmeal stout with a chocolatey flair. Customers can also dig into Woodstock Brewing’s food menu, which offers Mexican-style options like quesadillas, taco, and a tres leches cake for dessert. The brewery is open Thursday through Sunday.

Windham Ski Resort

Babblers at Wylder Windham, Windham

The 20-acre Wylder Windham property features seven diverse Victorian lodges, plus an onsite restaurant. Paying tribute to the history of the region in decor and menu, Wylder Windham is located 1.5 miles from Windham Ski Resort. At Babblers, the onsite restaurant, tranquil colors and wooden accents set a relaxing yet vibrant ambiance. Menu highlights include the beef stew entree ($2) and and the hand-whipped whole milk ricotta served with rustic fig jam, herb salad, lavender honey & olive oil and a grilled baguette ($17).
Visitors can also enjoy cocktail favorites like an espresso martini, negroni, and hot toddy. Hours are Wednesday through Friday from 4pm to 9pm and Saturday from 12 to 9pm, plus Sunday brunch.

Bunkhouse Lounge at Eastwind, Windham

A three-minute drive from Windham Ski Resort, the Bunkhouse Lounge is the in-house bar of the Eastwind hotel. The bar has beer and cider options from local craft producers, such as the Baby Dragon Pale Ale from Woodstock Brewing. Eastwind guests can also request plentiful breakfast baskets from 8am to 10:30am.

Glen Falls House, Round Top

The historic Glen Falls House hotel is nestled in a beautiful landscape approximately 25 minutes away from Windham Ski Resort, with a bounty of hiking trails and scenic natural environments. The rustic, in-house Trotwood Restaurant offers its dinner menu from 5pm to 9pm on Friday and Satruday. A highlight is the Rip’s Steak Plate with a grass -fed ribeye, chimichurri, roasted fingerling potatoes, and broccoli rabe ($60), which pairs nicely with Trotwood’s plethora of local brews. Another standout attraction at the restaurant is brunch, which is served Saturday and Sunday from 9-11am. 

Subversive, Crossroads, and Rip Van Winkle

Something of a power trifecta for beer enthusiasts, the Village of Catskill’s three craft breweries offer a variety of brews made from locally sourced ingredients. Subversive is unique for its in-house floor malting, and is open Thursday through Sunday. Customers can pair their beverage with a range of snack items and entrees, including 10 dipping sauces for fries. The Crossroads Brewing Company’s Catskill taproom is another favorite, open varying afternoon hours every day of the week except Tuesday. Crossroads is well known for their Outrage IPA, which has been named the best beer in the Hudson Valley multiple times. Finally, the Rip Van Winkle Brewing Company has a range of house beers on tap, like the Mountain House Helles and Uncle Tito Mexican Lager. It also offers a range of dining options with an emphasis on Italian cuisine and is open Wednesday through Sunday. All three breweries are about 30 minutes from Windham.

West Kill Brewing, West Kill

West Kill Brewing captures the heart and soul of the Catskill region through authentic brews produced with locally grown and foraged ingredients. A favorite of hikers and skiiers alike, West Kill Brewing’s mountain-adjacent taproom is open Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 8pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 6pm. On the weekends, customers can also indulge in snacks like trout dip with chips, or enjoy a hearty meal like the smashburger with crispy fries. West Kill Brewing is under 30 minutes from Windham Ski Resort, as well as from Hunter and Belleayre mountains, making it an appealing spot for skiers looking to unwind with some local drinks.

Belleayre Mountain

Union Grove Distillery, Arkville

The tasting room at Union Grove Distillery, with its rustic wood bar and leather bar stools, serves drinks that offer up a taste of upstate New York—maple spirits made from Catskill Mountain maple syrup, vodka distilled from New York wheat and apples, and gin infused with local lavender and fir. Open on Fridays and Saturdays and located only 8 minutes from Belleayre, Union Grove is the perfect space to drop in during an upstate ski weekend. The distillery serves up wood-fired pizza from Catskill Mountain Embers from 4pm-8pm.

Shandaken Inn, Shandaken

The Shandaken Inn sits on 12 sun-dappled acres bordered by the Esopus Creek, allowing guests to hike, swim, and fish. The guest rooms tell stories of the history of the Catskill Mountain region, but updated amenities, such as the seasonal pool and tennis courts and Clubhouse restaurant, show how the region has grown and changed. The Clubhouse Restaurant, open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday, features a menu that rotates daily, and presents simple yet elevated versions of classic dishes. Their chicken milanes is served with
roasted parsnip, prosciutto, pickled dates, brown butter, frisee,
and fennel pollen; their Caesar salad uses curly kale and is sprinkled with garlic bread crumbs, and their carrot panna cotta is made with blackberry, puffed wild rice, and brown butter.

Wayside Cider, Andes

Wayside Cider is an easygoing place serving up cider made from locally sourced Hudson Valley apples. Wayside strives to create the modern American cider, using the flavors and history of the area. Located in Andes, a 25-minute drive from Belleayre, the cidery is housed in two red painted restored barns strung with Christmas lights, its hip rustic-chic design taking inspiration from the pastoral setting. Wayside is a community meeting place, owned and operated by friends who share a love for cider. With picnic tables facing scenic mountain views outside and a sage green bar serving cider and farm-to-table food inside, Wayside is a place where you can kick back with friends.

Weaver Hollow Brewery, Andes

Weaver Hollow Brewery sits on land that used to belong to an old Catskill Mountain creamery, and now serves up an innovative pairing of beer and tinned seafood. The newly opened taproom features a modern architectural style, with sleek black walls, plants climbing out of gray matte pots, geometric tile prints, and chalkboards showcasing the drink of the day. Their menu, featuring dinner on Friday and Saturday, pairs dishes like squid in ink and mussels in escabeche with carefully chosen beers. Faith American Brewery, Margaretville

For its owner,actor Kelsey Grammer, Faith American Brewery is a boyhood dream come to fruition. Having visited the Catskills during his childhood, Grammar returned to the region in 2015 to open a brewery that now pours ales and IPAs designed to take drinkers back to simpler times. The brewery also serves as an event space, and Grammar sometimes takes the drinks on the road, appearing at restaurants and retailers across New England to discuss his business. Faith American is an 18-minute trip from Belleayre, and the beers are also sold at retailers throughout the region.

Urban Cowboy Lodge, Big Indian

Urban Cowboy Lodge, with its stone fireplaces, wood bar, sauna, and maximalist log cabin decor, invites guests to experience a self-aware rustic getaway. Open for dinner Thursday through Monday, the dining room serves inventive vegetable-forward meals that channel the local resources into finely honed bar eats. Experimental examples include the pork belly with anatto spice rub and seasonal chutney. The property also accommodates The Parlor, with pool tables and a laid back feel. Urban Cowboy is perfect for those looking to enjoy the winter in style, unwinding after a day on the slopes—it’s 20 minutes to Belleayre—with an artisanal cocktail by the fire.

Peekamoose Restaurant, Big Indian

Peekamoose Restaurant & Tap Room is a cozy culinary retreat open Thursday through Monday, offering a farm to table menu that evolves with the seasons. Owners Devin and Marybeth Mills bring a down to earth approach to contemporary American cuisine, and Chef Devin Mills, a Culinary Institute of America graduate, brings a rustic flair to cooking. The menu features highlights like caramelized onion tart and wood-grilled octopus to start and best-in-class entrees with locally sourced meat like the Snowdance Farm Chicken and Veritas Farms pork chop. The country farmhouse ambiance, designed by Shawn Patrick Anderson of ACME Studios, is inviting and quirky, featuring taxidermied animals and fallen branch décor.

Dandelion at Eastwind Oliverea Valley

Eastwind’s new location, Oliverea Valley, boasts a recently constructed 27-room hotel nestled in a lush mountainside, offering both sunrise and sunset views. Dandelion, the on site restaurant and bar in the main pavilion, features an evolving menu of international comfort food and expertly crafted cocktails. Expect well-executed American classics like a roasted half chicken, a burger, and a ribeye. Wednesday night is fondue night. With direct access to the McKenley Hollow Trailhead and other attractions, Eastwind Oliverea Valley serves as a convenient base for exploration. Guests can enjoy amenities such as a soon to be opened outdoor pool, sauna, communal fire pit, and more scattered across the grounds.

Tito Bandito, Pine Hill

About five minutes from Belleayre, Tito Bandito’s Catskills Taco + Tequila Bar, situated in Pine Hill, offers an authentic Mexican dining experience. Operating for indoor dining and takeout from Tuesday to Friday, 4-9pm, and Saturdays from 12-9pm, the menu includes an array of tacos, quesadillas, wraps, bowls, and salads. Specific offerings include pork carnitas tacos topped with pickled red onion, lettuce, and enchilada sauce and crispy chipotle chicken wings served with a side of house made bleu cheese or avocado ranch. On top of food, the drinks menu includes margaritas like the pineapple jalapeño and the Tito’s Cadillac.

Woodstock Brewing, Phoenicia

Woodstock Brewing, situated in Phoenicia, invites patrons to its tap room to experience a laid back atmosphere. Founded by two friends with a shared passion for beer, the brewery has evolved from a modest 1/2 barrel pilot system in a Woodstock garage to a substantial 15 barrel brewery. Currently on tap is the Peterson House Pilsner, a 5.0% Czech Pilsner brewed exclusively with pilsner malts and NY Saaz hops. They also offer the Supa Scupa, a 7% sour ale brewed with malted wheat and oats, fermented with nearly 500 lbs of strawberry, peach, and lemon puree. The brewery provides a menu full of burgers, sandwiches, tacos, and salads, with vegan and gluten-free friendly options available. Under 20 minutes from Belleayre, Woodstock Brewing operates from Thursday to Sunday with varying hours.

Drowned Lands Farm Brewery, Warwick

Drowned Lands offers a city-chic brewery experience in the heart of the Hudson Valley with a painted brick interior, sleek white bar chairs, and abundance of plants. Step into the airy space after a day out in the cold and be immediately warmed and welcomed by the down-to-earth community. Located a nine-minute drive from Mount Peter Ski Area, Drowned Lands sells experimental beers with names like Quiet River and North Wind, as well as canvas tote bags, a bandana, and a road trip blanket, souvenirs of a weekend getaway spent well.

Black Dirt Distillery, Warwick

Black Dirt Distillery harnesses the agricultural and geological the history of the area—the soil is made up of the remains of a 12,000 year old glacial lake—to create award-winning bourbon, rye, and Apple Jack. Their pumpkin cider is perfect for the fall, fruity cider flavors like peach, raspberry, and sour cherry make us excited for the coming spring, and their bourbons and spirits are ready to warm you up during the winter after a day on the slopes. Black Dirt is located 20 minutes from the Mount Peter Ski Area, and is a true year-round Warwick experience.

Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery, Warwick

During the winter, patrons of Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery can sit by the fireplace and listen to live bands. The property’s cafe is open Wednesday through Sunday, and serves wood-fired pizza, parmesan fries, and sandwiches. Pair your meal with artisanal cider, beer, or whiskey—all made onsite—then kick back and vibe to the music. Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery is located a quick 20 minutes from the Mount Peter Ski Area.

Catamount Lodge

Little Cat Lodge, Hillsdale

Opeed in spring 2022, Little Cat Lodge in Hillsdale sits at the foot of Catamount Mountain and straddling the New York/Massachusetts state line. Once a stagecoach station, the seven-acre complex operated as the Swiss Hutte Inn and Restaurant from 1962 to 2021, when it was purchased by New York City restaurateurs Matt Kliegman and Noah Bernamoff.

North Star at the Alander, Copake

A couple years after opening The Alander, a reimagined boutique lodge in Copake, owners Jason Seiler and Reid Kendall have opened the onsite restaurant, North Star, with a focus on New American favorites and New England seafood. The menu features clam chowder, lobster bisque, and an appetizer of PEI mussels. Entree choices include a pan seared Atlantic salmon, a 16-ounce New York strip with jumbo tiger shrimp, roasted duck breast, and a Moroccan stew. The bar and restaurant are open Thursday through Sunday, with Happy Hour starting at 4pm and dinner service at 5pm. The drink list includes carefully curated wines, beers, and spirits.

Eddie's Roadhouse, Warwick

Eddie’s Roadhouse, located nine minutes from Mount Peter Ski Area, provides a perfect dinner place to stop with family or friends after a day out in the cold. The restaurant serves up elevated fusion comfort food, from orange chicken meatballs with fried rice to chipotle vodka parm. The menu features burger, taco, and sandwich sections, as well as “cultured creations.” What does that mean? The country fried chicken, which is served with collard greens, maple mashed potatoes, and chorizo gravy, speaks for itself. Their drink menu features beer, wine, and craft cocktails, including a chai, honey, and vodka creation, with bar seating that invites guests to stay a while.

Pennings Farm Market & Cidery, Warwick

Sitting on a historic, 100-acre orchard, Pennings Farm is a community hub with an onsite restaurant, farm market, and cidery. Serving up hearty chili, wings with creative sauces like garlic parmesan and mango habanero, crab cakes, and “big bites” like a Cape Cod reuben, and truffle mac and cheese, the dishes are hearty, fun New England comfort foods. On a property looking out at iconic Hudson Valley mountain views, you’ll find the bucolic restaurant situated in a barn, where the tables are cleared from the poured concrete floor when the bands come on. The space also accommodates workshops in gardening, cooking, preserving, seasonal crafts, and more. Pennings is 11 minutes away from the Mount Peter Ski Area.

Catamount Lodge

Little Cat Lodge, Hillsdale

Opened in spring 2022, Little Cat Lodge in Hillsdale sits at the foot of Catamount Mountain and straddling the New York/Massachusetts state line.
