Clark Art Institute Hosts “The Art of the Meal” on August 10 | Branded Content | Culinary Events | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine

Fine art and fine dining come together for a special evening at the Clark Art Institute. Learn about French influence on world culture as you tour the museum’s latest exhibitions and enjoy a delicious, six-course meal.

The evening begins with private tours led by exhibition curators of “Women Artists in Paris, 1850–1900” and “The Art of Iron: Objects from the Musée Le Secq des Tournelles, Rouen, Normandy.” The former exhibition, which opened on June 9, explores the female artist renaissance of 19th century Paris, showcasing a range of paintings from that era. “The Art of Iron,” which opened the same day, features blacksmithed works including locks, keys, balcony grills, and signs found in 18th-century France.

Exhibition curators Esther Bell and Kathleen Morris will guide guests through the historically-rich European artwork. Then, culinary guru Darra Goldstein and STARR Catering Executive Chef Daniel Hardy will narrate the six-course dinner inspired by the exhibitions. The feast will present European culinary traditions from Scandinavia, Switzerland, England, America, and Russia through the lens of French cuisine.

Guests will dine on wild mushroom toasts; smoked trout with lemon skyr on rye; Bündnerfleisch; summer fruit soup with red wine; salmon coulibiac; and roast duck with red currant sauce, baby beets, cucumber salad, and rösti. Dessert includes île flottante (floating island) and mini cream puffs with chocolate.

Join the Clark Art Institute for “The Art of the Meal” on August 10 from 6-9pm. Tickets are $250 per person and are available on the museum’s website.
