Since Ole Savannah opened in Kingston's Rondout district in 2015, it has offered a heaping helping of Southern hospitality with a distinctive Hudson Valley twist. Think dishes like succulent, fall-off-the-bone barbecue, chicken and waffles, and fried green tomatoes served up in a restored historic steamboat repair shop with some of the best waterfront views you’re likely to find in any restaurant around.

It’s that one-two punch of comfort food fare and killer ambiance that have brought locals and visitors buzzing back to Ole Savannah these last eight years—and what helped the restaurant bring home four 2022 Chronogrammies Readers Choice Awards in BBQ, Al Fresco Dining, Waterfront Dining, and Buffet.

“We’re honored that we’ve been chosen for four Chronogrammies,” says owner Dave Amato, who took inspiration for Ole Savannah from New York City restaurateur Danny Meyer’s own farm-to-table homage to Southern cuisine, Blue Smoke. “Being selected as the best among many fantastic restaurants in the Hudson Valley is a great honor,” Amato says. “The success is attributed to our incredible team that makes it happen every day.”

In addition to its expansive menu of Southern classics like fried chicken, Low Country shrimp and grits, and jambalaya, Ole Savannah also serves up an array of globally-inflected dishes such as a Miso-marinated salmon filet and pho, as well as new specials every weekend. You can find each week’s specials by following Ole Savannah on Facebook or Instagram. And don’t forget its gracious and much-lauded Sunday buffet brunch, on offer every Sunday from 10am to 2pm.

With its exposed beams and high vaulted ceilings that evoke the Rondout’s historic shipbuilding era, Ole Savannah has also become a favorite venue for intimate weddings, anniversary parties, bridal showers, and just about every other kind of shindig imaginable—and its outdoor Sperry Sailcloth tent offers panoramic river views. Whether planning a casual buffet, cocktail party, pig roast, or elegant sit-down dinner, you’ll be in good hands with the team at Ole Savannah.

And this autumn and winter, a whole host of beloved Ole Savannah traditions will be back and better than ever. Favorite events like the Halloween party and costume contest, Thanksgiving Eve Bash, Ole Savannah Holiday Party, Brunch with Santa, and New Year's Eve—plus new traditions like the Rondout Ice Rink and Ole Savannah’s Second Annual Winter Fest—mean there’ll be plenty of good vibes and good eats to go around.
