Taco Tuesday: Takeout Style | Restaurants | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine

In just a week, daily life as we knew it changed, especially for our regional restaurants who were required to cease dine-in service. Some have had to shutter their doors for now, but others have chosen to stay open, making the sudden switch to a takeout-only model practically overnight.

This is a time for supporting our beloved restaurants, but also for maintaining normalcy when possible. And what’s more normal than a Taco Tuesday meal? Be sure to check in with your favorite eateries, as many have new temporary hours and menus, but for now, here’s a sampling of where to find your favorite Mexican comfort food—and perhaps a margarita—to go.

Santa Fe | Kingston, Tivoli, Woodstock

Santa Fe’s typical Taco Tuesday discount—$5 tacos—is being offered daily. Enjoy flavors like pulled pork or barbacoa short rib. Taco dinner entrees and other items on their full menu are available, as well. If you’re isolating with a partner, split a quart of their famous frozen or classic margaritas for $20. Pickup is available daily from all three locations, but delivery is offered from the Kingston location, within five miles of their uptown restaurant. Find updates on Facebook and order by calling (845) 339-7777.

Mexican Kitchen | New Paltz

Where else can you find lengua tacos at a time like this? Choose from a variety of meat, fish, and vegetarian tacos—many under $3 each—as well as burritos, tostadas, enchiladas, and quesadillas. Call in and pickup your meal, or order for delivery through DoorDash. Find updated hours on their website and place orders via phone: (845) 256-5070.

Taco Tico | Newburgh

This longstanding Spanish and Puerto Rican joint is offering tacos, fajitas, burritos, and more—all under $10— for pickup or delivery via Uber Eats. Don’t forget desserts like flan or tres leches cake. They’re currently open Monday-Saturday 11am-5pm; check Facebook for updates and call (845) 561-1212 to order.

Gaby’s Cafe & Agave Bar | Rhinebeck, Ellenville

Indulge in flavorful tacos made with pollo asado or chorizo at Gaby’s Cafe, with locations in Ellenville and Rhinebeck. They’re offering the full typical menu of various Mexican dishes daily for pickup. Desserts and beverages are available, too, including margaritas, sangrias, and mojitos.

Hudson Taco | Newburgh

Cauliflower, Korean short rib, and blackened catfish are just a few of the modern taco options at Hudson Taco. And yep—margaritas are available to go, too. Call ahead to pick up, or Hudson Taco will deliver within a five-mile radius on the West side of the river. Place orders through their website or mobile app.

Diego’s Taqueria | Kingston

A Gourmet Mexican street food and margaritas are on the menu at Diego’s, including a $13 Taco Box, featuring two gourmet tacos (barbacoa, al pastor, and other crowd faves like buffalo cauliflower) plus a side, for pickup only. Follow them on Instagram for updates and offerings.

Pancho Villa | Tannersville

If you’d rather save your taco fix for the end of the week, Pancho Villa in Tannersville is currently open Friday-Sunday from 4-9pm, offering their full food and drink menu. Try the Tacos al Carbon with chicken or steak or the spicy jalapeno-infused Tacos Mexicanos, in addition to a variety of tamales, burritos, enchiladas, and more. Place orders at (518) 589-5134.

Turkish Tuesdays at Masa Midtown | Kingston

The newly opened Masa Midtown offers Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine specials on Tuesdays from 12-6pm, like the Chicken Gyro Bowl ($10) with grilled marinated chicken tenders, fresh greens, Turkish pilaf, and cacik; or Kabuska ($6), a vegetarian cabbage and root vegetable stew.
