Gingerbread Santas
According to Instagram, which exploded in a cloud of flour and powdered sugar last weekend, December 1 is the official opening of cookie season. Christmas Cookies, Pfeffernusse, Gingerbread Cookies, Rainbow Cookies, Macaroons, and Rugulah —we like 'em all.

Trouble is, the holiday season is also a busy time for everyone what with family coming into town, the end-of-year work rush, kids off school, so most people aren't exactly overflowing with free time to whip up delicious baked goodies (we can still drool over our social media feeds). The Bakery in New Paltz has been supplying the holidays with a much needed-sugar rush for over 37 years.

In the cold, dark days of December, head to this cozy New Paltz establishment for a wide array of holiday treats for Chanukah, Christmas, and the New Year including babka, cannoli, dinner rolls, tiramisu, velvet torte, egg nog cheesecake (YUM), butter cookies, handmade candy canes, gingerbread house kits and cookies, and truffles.

For Christmas morning, stock up on bagels, croissants, muffins, doughnuts, danish, and cinnamon buns. The Bakery also offers large and small cookie platters perfect for office parties, holiday soirees, and delicious gifts (or for hoarding all to yourself).
