20th Anniversary of First Same Sex Weddings in New Paltz

February 27 marks the 20th anniversary of Village of New Paltz Mayor Emeritus Jason West’s 2004 heroic act of civil disobedience that changed the world forever, when he performed the first same-sex marriages for LGBTQ+ couples in Peace Park. To celebrate this history, the New Paltz Pride Coalition is hosting a “Love is Love” Drag Brunch Fundraiser on Sunday, February 25 from 11:00am until 2:00pm at Novella’s in New Paltz. The event will honor Mayor Emeritus Jason West, celebrate the couples who participated in that historic act of civil disobedience, and feature drag performances curated by Veela Peculiar.
