420 Funk Mob Brings the Funk Back to Woodstock

Posted By on Tue, Jan 23, 2018 at 9:00 AM

Woodstock-area vocalist Michael “Clip” Payne has been bringing the funk since 1969, when he appeared on Edwin Starr’s Top 10 single “Twenty Five Miles.” But most folks know him as a member of the Parliament-Funkadelic collective since 1977 and as the leader of his own 420 Funk Mob—which hits his hometown venue Colony this Saturday for special Grammy Weekend par-tay.

In addition to P Funk and 420 Funk Mob, Payne has toured with the Gap Band, Bernie Worrell, Bootsy’s Rubber Band, the Rockets, the Brides of Funkenstein, as well as his other, projects DRUGS and the Cacophonic FM.

Dig into this, well, clip of Clip and 420 laying it down at New York:

420 Funk Mob will perform at Colony in Woodstock, New York, on January 27 at 7pm. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of show. For more information, visit http://www.colonywoodstock.com/.
