Chili Bowl Fiesta in Stone Ridge

The 23rd annual Chili Bowl Fiesta returns on February 29 from 2 to 6pm to offer nearly 1,000 handmade bowls and mugs created in the Women’s Studio Workshop and available for purchase—all of which can also be filled with homemade chili donated to the event by area chefs. The spicy soiree takes place at Vanderlyn Hall on the SUNY Ulster campus in Stone Ridge. Early bird (2 to 4pm) admission is $10; admission is free after 4pm. https://wsworkshop.org/

Chris Maxwell in Woodstock

Local singer-songwriter and producer Chris Maxwell is one busy half of soundtrack/production team the Elegant Too (“Bob’s Burgers,” “Inside Amy Schumer”). Out this month is New Store No. 2, Maxwell’s second solo album, which he’ll celebrate with a record release show at Colony in Woodstock on February 29 at 7pm. The Shivers open. Vassar Dance Performance in Poughkeepsie

Vassar College’s resident company, Vassar Repertory Dance Theatre, will perform at the Bardavon Theater Poughkeepsie on February 29 at 8pm and March 1 at 3pm. The two shows, which mark the occasion of the company’s 38th annual gala weekend, will feature 34 Vassar students performing jazz, ballet, and modern works created by faculty and students. Tickets are $12 (Vassar community, students, and seniors are $10; there is a group discount of $8 for parties of 10 or more). https://www.bardavon.org/

Toni Morrison Documentary at SUNY Dutchess To wrap up its 2020 Black History Month Film Series, SUNY Dutchess Community College will screen Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am in Dutchess Hall’s James and Betty Hall Theater on its Poughkeepsie campus on March 2 at 5:30pm. Bouillabaisse Lunch in Poughkeepsie

On February 26 at noon, the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Poughkeepsie hosts “Classic Bouillabaisse” at its Bocuse restaurant. Part of CIA’s 2020 Culinary Series, the three-course lunch is centered around the titular seafood stew identified with the port city of Marseille and includes salads, desserts, and wines associated with the region.
