The Hudson Valley and surrounding areas are saturated with an array of accommodations that give their guests a truly magical experience. One distinguished example of a resort that encapsulates an enchanting atmosphere is the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz. With its location within a vast natural landscape, elegant suites, and award-winning spa, guests can indulge as they choose. There is an abundance of accommodations throughout the rest of the Hudson Valley that matches the grand service that Mohonk offers. Here are some other hotels to turn your visit into a real-life fairytale.

The Roxbury at Stratton Brook Falls, Roxbury

The Roxbury at Stratton Brook Falls has a whimsical contemporary exterior design that makes it feel like you’re staying at a pop-art museum rather than a motel. During the summer, the bright colors of the flowers make the lodge seem extra exuberant. The wintertime brings snow that covers the grounds, which makes for a much simpler look but allows the lime green doors to pop and take center stage. Not only is this place great to look at, when you stay at The Roxbury you have access to a plethora of retail and outdoor excursionas year-round.

Wing’s Castle, Millbrook

Adjacent to the Millbrook Winery, this bed and breakfast fit for royalty seems to have come straight out of a story book. Wing’s Castle in Millbrook was built in 1970 and is described by the building’s artist, Toni Ann Wing, as a “live-in art project.” Guests can live out their childhood fantasies in themed rooms like the dungeon room, chamber room, the tower room, and fairytale-esque cottage.

Saugerties Lighthouse, Saugerties

Guests at the Saugerties Lighthouse can enjoy their stay in nautical-themed rooms with soft pleasing color palettes. The historic 150-year-old lighthouse, now run as a bed and breakfast, has only two bedrooms, which makes for a very private and secluded experience. The lighthouse is still worth the visit even if you don’t book a room. The lighthouse offers public tours, events, a small museum, and an operational lighthouse that gives their visitors stunning views of the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains.

Willow Treehouse, Woodstock

Designed by Antony Gibbon, this aerie is an elevated one-bedroom Airbnb where guests can channel their inner children. With a minimalist interior design coupled with an abundance of raw wood and large windows affording views of the surrounding greenery it’s easy to get in touch with nature while staying in this cabin. Since this rental literally sits among the trees and is ladder-accessible, it’s recommended that guests pack light.

Kate’s Lazy Meadow, Mt. Tremper

Created by Kate Pierson and her wife Monica Coleman, Kate’s Lazy Meadow Motel will take you back in time. With a funky `50s-inspired interior and `60s style mixed with modern elements, this lodging site is perfect for guests to enjoy the theme as well as great views of the Catskills. The eight suites also come with a “unusual” selection of vintage DVDs and VHS tapes for visitors to fully immerse themselves in the past.

Winivan Farm, Morris, CT

With 18 themed cottages, Winvian Farm in Connecticut has just about every accommodation you could imagine. Originally built in 1775 as a home for the eclectic Dr. Seth Bird, Winivian offers guests a truly original experience. From the helicopter cottage to the artist’s bungalow and the library cottage, the possibilities are endless for guests who book their stay at Winvian. Visitors also have access to 113 acres of property to explore and take part in activities like fishing, kayaking, canoeing, tennis, golf, and horseback riding.

Blantyre, Lenox, MA

Blantyre is a Gilded Age mansion and estate built in 1902 built by New York businessman Robert Patterson and named for his mother’s birthplace in Scotland. At this award-winning resort, guests can enjoy elegantly designed rooms and suites that take inspiration from classic English designs and pristinely maintained grounds. Blantyre offers a large variety of rooms in its Manor House, which is filled with luxury suites, carriage house located close to the spa and pool, and four private cottages. The location in the Berkshires also offers a plethora of activities from skiing to visiting museums for all to enjoy year-round.

Foxfire Mountain House, Mt. Tremper

Nestled within the Catskill Mountains, the Foxfire Mountain House is a rustic-meets-Bohemian inn. The lodging site/wedding venue has 11 guest rooms featuring craftsman-made beds with high-end linens, and is known for serving Nordic-style breakfasts. This sophisticated and rustic accommodation has a plethora of features to add to the ambient environment, like an outdoor pavilion, hammocks for guests to lounge in, and bonfire pits.

Silo Studio Cottage, Tyringham, MA

Situated in two acres of woods, this Silo Studio rental cottage looks like a fairy home. Guests are treated to views of enchanting gardens, a babbling brook, and a lily pond. The romantic rental located in the Berkshires has a bohemian-style bedroom with a 35-foot-high conical ceiling and canopied bed. Guests can also enjoy the surrounding wooded area by exploring the garden paths with stone bridges over the babbling brooks, a loop trail, and a stone outdoor seating area equipped with a chiminea and firewood.
