After the Vote Screens at Rosendale Theatre for Filmmakers Series

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Filmmakers Series of the Rosendale Theatre will present the work-in-progress After the Vote, with director Dawn Scibilia, on March 30 at 7:30pm. The film explores what happened to the suffragists of New York after they got the right to vote in 1917.

The film tells the story of suffragists’ well-organized activism, their many appointments in the Fiorello Laguardia administration, and their success in bringing down the corrupt practices of Tammany Hall. It’s based on the writings of feminist historian Elisabeth I. Perry in her book After the Vote. For the screening, Scibilia, an award-winning filmmaker and Emmy Award nominee, will share clips of her work-in-progress feature documentary.

Designed to give audiences “a better understanding of filmmaking as an art and craft, from conceptualization to production, from editing to marketing,” the Filmmakers Series is supported by the J.M. McDonald Foundation.

Tickets are $10. COVID Policy: The Rosendale Theatre requires proof of vaccination for entry for patrons over five. Masks must be worn inside unless eating and drinking at your seat.
