Poem: Wild Violets

Learn to love
the wild violets.
They neither reap nor sow,
nor need to.
Let them take the lawn
if they will.
They are more pleasing to the bare foot
than indifferently sprouted seed
purchased and strewn with blind intent.
Your dog will roll in them
and suffer only joy.
You can learn a lot
from your dog.
