    Full Schedule of Events

    1. Saturday, October 25th 1-4pm Altar-Making Workshop
    Location: Mid Hudson Heritage Center, 317 Main St.
    Learn by creating a community altar together with others.
    Bring any favorite flowers, food, and photos of your own lost relatives to honor in the altar.
    15 people. All ages.

    2. Monday, October 27th – Sunday, November 2nd – Community Altar Contest
    Local businesses will display their own altars. Use the map to visit each altar in Middle Main
    (while sampling the local food) and vote on your favorite.
    Winners will be announced at the Grand Celebration on Sunday November 2nd.
    Ballot drop-off: Art Centro, Mid Hudson Heritage Center

    3. Monday, October 27th 5:30-8:30 pm - Pan de Muerto Workshop
    El Patron Cuisine, 411 Main St.
    Learn how to bake the traditional Day of the Dead bread, using authentic ingredients imported from Mexico. Each participant will make their own loaf to bring home.
    10 people. Ages 10+.

    4. Tuesday, October 28th 6-8 pm – Papel Picado Workshop
    Location: Art Centro
    Learn how to make vibrant, decorative banners out of perforated paper.
    Participants will bring home their own banners to decorate for Dia de los Muertos.
    16 people, All ages.

    5. Wednesday, October 29th 5:30-7:30 pm Community Meet-Up

    Location: Mid Hudson Heritage Center, 317 Main St.
    An open, community meeting about neighborhood issues.
    Meet your neighbors, enjoy refreshments from a local business, and view the Dia de los Muertos art exhibition and altars.

    6. Saturday November 1st 1-3pm Ceramic Skull Painting Workshop
    Location: Art Centro, 485 Main St.
    Decorate a ceramic skull with brilliant colors of glaze.
    All pieces will be fired in a kiln and ready for pick-up the following week.
    32 people maximum. All ages.

    7. Sunday, Nov. 2nd 3-7 pm - Grand Celebration
    Location: Mid Hudson Heritage Center, 317 Main St.
    Events Include:
    A Day of the Dead Alter Contest
    Art Exhibitions
    Face painting
    Sugar Skull Decorating
    Local Traditional Foods
    A Youth Arts Contest
    Mariachi music performance
    Grupo Folklorico de Poughkeepsie dance performance
    Pre-Columbian dance performance (tentative)
