A Forum on Translational Ecology

Are you considering a career in ecology? The Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies will host a forum designed for undergraduate and graduate students. Hear firsthand how science is communicated to the public by scientists, educators, policy makers, and activists, all experts in the field of environmental science. In the morning session (9:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.), speakers representing each field will share their insights about translating ecology for different audiences and purposes. They will discuss the major challenges and rewards of communicating the results of scientific studies, and share advice for students who are interested in different careers in translational ecology. In the afternoon session (1:30p.m-3p.m.), speakers will join small groups for informal discussions about issues of concern to the student participants, including both translational ecology and ecology-related career pathways.
