The wines of France have had a profound influence on new and developing wine countries. So, even if you haven't tasted a French wine, you've had one inspired by France. For example, the varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay originated in France, and the French versions have a distinct character unlike any other.
