Antonio de Líteres’s 1708 Spanish Baroque comic opera is a blend of songs, choruses (in Spanish) and spoken passages (in English), often quick-witted and satirical, mixing gods, mythological creatures and rustic or pastoral folks with the love story of Acis and Galatea.
Performers are Salomé Sandoval, Catherine Hancock, Sarah Fay, Thomas Schindler, Pat Barton, Crescendo’s Vocal Ensemble, period instrument players Job Salazar, Malina Rauschenfels, Tricia Van Oers, Christa Patton and Hideki Yamaya. Crescendo Artistic Director Christine Gevert leads this semi-staged performance from the harpsichord in a collaboration with Ensemble El Fuego (Salomé Sandoval, Artistic Director).
