Peter Schickele
An eclectic musical evening in celebration of the creative life of multi-Grammy-award-winning composer Peter Schickele (1935-2024), creator of P.D.Q. Bach and the public radio program “Schickele Mix.” The Caroga Arts Collective plays Schickele’s Fifth String Quartet, “ A Year in the Country” (commissioned by Maverick Concerts, 1998), and a rarely-performed P.D.Q. Bach work, the “Moose” Quartet. Post-intermission, an all-star line-up of local musicians, including Elizabeth Mitchell, rounds out the program with selections from Schickele’s popular music oeuvre, from bluegrass to rock songs to rounds about life in Woodstock, and a ballad written for Joan Baez.
