An untitled poem by Elizabeth Caffrey

I’ve killed three spiders since I moved here.
I feel bad about it.
I ask myself if this carnage was
necessary.
When I saw spider #4
contemplating me
I had had enough of killing.
We see each other frequently now
neither of us having anyplace else to go.
