Let the line go out
farther than you have ever cast it.

Let it go
like Noah’s raven.

When it comes back to you
it will be changed,

dampened by rivers,
frayed by the air

it has passed through.
It will have learned

the geography of rain.
It will long for

what it has touched
on its way

and not given name to.
