TheaterSounds Playreading’s 14th season opens with Bakersfield Mist, a lively and delightful new comedy by Stephen Sachs. Inspired by actual events, an unemployed bartender living in a California desert trailer park believes the painting she bought in a thrift store for three dollars is actually an undiscovered Jackson Pollock worth millions. When an eminent art historian arrives to evaluate the painting, the two embark on a fiery debate over class, truth, and what we personally perceive as valuable.
