Barrett Art Center's fall fundraiser, Barrett’s Bootleggers Bash, looks back to the era of the founding of the Dutchess County Art Association, known today as the Barrett Art Center. The early 1930s both spawned a bootlegging boom in the Hudson Valley and inspired Thomas W. Barrett, Jr. and a group of interested artists to form an organization that saw community interaction with art as an opportunity for civic engagement. Today, BAC carries on this mission to support community engagement with visual art through national juried exhibitions and low and no-cost public art programs.
