Courtney Love's name is certainly one of the most recognized names in the entertainment field. The outspoken front woman of post-grunge hitmakers Hole and widow of rock icon Kurt Cobain, Love is also noted for her screen time in such films as Sid and Nancy, Straight to Hell, and The People vs. Larry Flynt. On October 27, she’ll be the guest of honor at this year’s installment of Basilica Hudson’s biennial Pioneering People benefit, which raises operational funds for the multi-arts center, of which Love’s ex-band mate Melissa Auf der Maur is cofounder and director.

In addition to Love herself and Auf der Maur, the evening will be cohosted by esteemed guests Michael Stipe, the National’s Aaron Dessner, Natasha Lyonne, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Elvis Perkins, Chloë Sevigny, former Pitchfork editorial director Brandon Stosuy, photographers Ryan McGinley and Yelena Yemchuk, and others. Through talks, performances, readings, and video, the evening will celebrate Love’s life and art.

“Courtney’s legacy is vital to the voice of women in our culture,” Auf der Maur says. “The passion she brings to her life and art fuels and inspires the long-fought battle for the empowerment of alternative voices as they take center stage at last! As the founder and frontwoman of the band Hole, and through her escapades as a Hollywood actress and all-around empowered voice for over three decades, Courtney broke new ground, combining lyrics of intellectual acuity with music of a singular power to create a body of work with riveting emotional intensity.”

Pioneering People Basilica Benefit: Courtney Love will take place at Basilica Hudson in Hudson, New York, on October 27 at 7pm. Tickets start at $50. For more information, visit
