As part of their "Views From the Edge" series, the Rosendale Theatre screens iconic French filmmaker Jean Cocteau's 1946 La Belle et la Bête, the original black-and-white version of Disney's popular adaptation. Upon seeing the film in 1947, critic Bosley Crowther wrote that it was a “priceless fabric of subtle images…a fabric of gorgeous visual metaphors, of undulating movements and rhythmic pace, of hypnotic sounds and music, of casually congealing ideas.”
