Between Blessings and Light Beams: Surfing the Sacred/Secular Divide in Black Popular Music

Religion and race scholar Josef Sorett will explore the influence religion has had on recent Black music in this talk. Sorett will open a discussion on religion, race, and media by examining the use of religion in contemporary Black music from genres such as gospel, hip hop, and worship music.
