In addition to being a highly creative pianist, electronic musician, and professor of music at Albany University, Bob Gluck is an accomplished author. His newest book is The Miles Davis Lost Quintet and Other Revolutionary Ensembles, which he and his quartet will celebrate with a performance at the Kleinert/James Center for the Arts on September 17.

In his new book, Gluck explores the music of the revolutionary Bitches Brew-era group—Davis’s first electric band—to illuminate a period of extraordinary transition in American music. For the concert, he’ll be joined by drummer Tani Tabbal, bassist Michael Bisio, and saxophonist Adam Siegel will play “freely drawn renditions of repertoire from the late 1960s Davis Quintet.”

Immerse yourself here in a 2015 solo performance by Gluck:

Bob Gluck will offer commentary on The Miles Davis Lost Quintet and Other Revolutionary Ensembles and perform with Tani Tabbal, Michael Bisio, and Adam Siegel at the Kleinert/James Center for the Arts in Woodstock, New York, on September 17. The free event is presented by the Golden Notebook. For more information call (845) 679-2205 or visit http://www.goldennotebook.com/.
