Three exciting works of early 19th c. Romanticism: Mendelssohn’s concert aria Infelice is a real tour de force for soprano and orchestra. Soloist Caroline Dunigan, a recent recipient of a Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Encouragement Award, will be enjoying her third CITV appearance. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D major (1801-02) follows, a remarkable example of the composer’s spirit, originality and power. The Broad Street Chorale, the Broad Street Orchestra, soprano Caroline Dunigan, mezzo Chloë Schaaf, and tenor Jon Morrell. David Smith conducts.
