David Greely's Cajun Music Workshop

Founding fiddler of the Mamou Playboys, David now works as a solo fiddler and vocalist, focusing on "home music," for listening more than dancing. David will point out the distinctive phrasing and ornaments that make a melody sound Cajun, following the lead of his teacher, Dewey Balfa, who taught him how to listen intently, so the students can learn a new style, not simply a Louisiana tune done in the student's style. He will teach Cajun French songs in an easy and fun call-and-response group method.
