The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), passed in 1990, requires all federally funded institutions to inventory their Native collections and consult with tribes for the return of human remains, grave objects, and other culturally important items. Dr. Gould, a Nipmuc National Enrolled Tribal Member and Associate Director of Native American and Indigenous Studies at Brown University, will discuss the concept of “institutional will” as it relates to NAGPRA.
