Drawn Down

The artists in Drawn Down hail from upstate New York, Massachusetts and New York City and employ an extensive range of drawing techniques. Drawing may be an incidental part of a particular artist’s practice or the dominant preoccupation. The works in the exhibition are figurative and abstract, in some cases existing as studies for paintings and sculptures but all are fully realized pieces unto themselves. Subject matter and motifs might come from direct observation of a distinct landscape or still life, or may be culled from information systems and world cultures taking on themes of nature, science and religion.
