Envisioning Curatorial Practice: Cesar Garcia

Cesar Garcia is the Founding Director and Chief Curator of The Mistake Room in Los Angeles. Located in a converted garment factory, The Mistake Room serves as a platform for under-represented and emerging artists, hosting a program of international and interdisciplinary exhibitions and projects that spark global dialogue. Garcia’s talk will survey of experimental models of artistic and cultural production—artist-run spaces, publishing houses, and alternative academies—stemming from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia over the last decade and consider how they might inform institution-making in the United States.
