Our Family, Youth, and Teen Experience programs give you a hands-on introduction to primitive survival skills. These are ancient skills passed down by an Apache scout to Tom Brown, Jr, who started our program in 1999. These skills include tracking, shelter building, friction fire techniques, water collection and purification, edible/medicinal and utilitarian plants, primitive cooking, bird language, and much more. One focus of the class will be the creation of a personal bow-drill kit, a friction fire method. Participants are divided into groups according to age for some activities, including adults, while other activities will be done as a group.
