Formed in their local hometown hamlet of Palenville in 2006 by the nucleus of brothers Ian, James, and Simone (since departed for a solo career) Felice, the globetrotting country-folk rockers haven’t performed in these parts for some time, so no doubt the Bearsville homecoming will be a big night.
Despite the frequent comparison of their music to that of the Band and Bob Dylan, accordionist James Felice maintains the similarities were never intentional. “We never tried to get into that world, and we never felt like part of that scene,” he told me when I interviewed him for the September 2016 issue of Chronogram. “Yeah, we’re from the same area, but we had as much exposure to that music as anyone else our age.”
