Follow the River Lecture and Film Series

Ulster County Historian, Geoffrey Miller, will be presenting a topic which spans the entire series – “Teasing the Story from the Historical Record – The Writing of History”. Miller, who is also the Project Director of the Reher Center for Immigrant Culture and History, will focus on the appeal of local and regional history as well as the principles and methods he uses in his research. The lecture will be illustrated by examples drawn from several projects relating to his work on Music in the Hudson Valley before the Civil War, and a current project which involves Col. George F. Chandler, a local doctor and surgeon who was instrumental in the founding of the New York State Police in 1917.
