  • The Four Nations Ensemble

On Saturday, the Four Nations Ensemble pays a seasonal visit to our area with another intimate public performance at one of the Hudson Valley’s most beautiful private homes. The group is known for its performing music from the Renaissance through the Viennese Classical masterpieces of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven using period instruments.

Headed by harpsichordist Andrew Appel, Four Nations is further comprised of cellist Loretta O’Sullivan, and violinist Tatiana Chulochnikova, and has asked several outside musicians to join the ensemble for its Hudson Valley-area concerts. This appearance features guests soprano Rosa Lamoreaux, flutist Colin St. Martin, and viola da gamba master Joshua Lee in a program of sonatas and arias of Buxtehude, Bach, and Telemann.

Here’s a brief selection from the ensemble’s new recording of works by Jean-Marie Leclair, released on the Orchid Classics label this past July:

The Four Nations Ensemble will perform at 3:30pm on September 21 at the home of Dennis Wedlick and Curtis DeVito in Kinderhook. Tickets are $100. For further details call (212) 928-5708 or visit Fournations.org.
