Re: “Larry Beinhart's Body Politic: The Little Bank on the Corner

Chronogram is a stalwart supporter of a new Hudson Valley nonprofit called Re>Think Local, devoted to promoting localism. Localism has many facets, but one of them concerns banking and savings. Localism in banking means using a truly local bank because you can interact with actual people who know you, your business and your community. The money in your savings account is lent to local homeowners and businesses. The bank may actually lend money based on your character as well as the numbers in your credit score and financial statement. The bank's philanthropy and community support stays local. Mr. Beinhart splendidly illustrates all this, and to my knowledge, is not familiar with either Re>Think Local or localism. His experience is common and Re>Think Local points to a better way.
