Grace Street and Rising from the Ashes: An Evening of Arts-based Research Performance

Grace Street, is a musical created by Dr. Diane Austin (music therapist, vocal psychotherapist, and adjunct professor NYU) based on her research investigating the lived experience of people receiving music therapy services in Alcoholics Anonymous. Grace Street depicts four composite characters through individual monologues and music. The second performance, Rising from the Ashes, is a cycle of songs created by Dr. Michael Viega that depicts the developmental challenges of adolescents who identify with Hip Hop culture and who have experienced trauma. Audience members will have the opportunity to evaluate these performances through an anonymous survey at the performance.
