Grassroots Activism in Education

Last Updated: 08/29/2022 1:32 pm
Since the spring of 2015, 240,000 school kids have refused state mandated tests, which are being used to gauge school district performance and funding and as an assessment of teacher efficacy. Refusing the tests has evolved into a movement to reclaim public education. At a forum at SUNY New Paltz tonight, people can learn more about it from a panel of leaders in the Opt-Out Movement, plus Zephyr Teachout, who recently announced her candidacy for New York’s 19th Congressional District.

Education Matters: The Past, Present and Future of Grassroots Activism in New York will be held on March 11 at 6:00p at SUNY New Paltz’s Lecture Center 108. For more information, contact Nancy Schniedewind, [email protected] or (845) 257-2827.
