History Cruise on the Rip Van Winkle

Featuring 2 lectures on baord: Thomas Rinaldi, co-author of Hudson Valley Ruins: Forgotten Landmarks of an American Landscape, will share his findings of “the Lost Steam Fleet.” Of the once enormous fleet of steamboats that once ran up, down, and across the Hudson River, it is generally assumed that not a single vessel remains. Yet in forgotten backwaters, some ghosts can still be found. About 15 years ago, Thomas spent months tracking down the visible remnants of the Hudson’s “Lost Fleet.” Join Thomas as he reflects on the Lost Fleet of the Hudson. Art Cohn, Director Emeritus and Senior Advisor of the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum and Research Institute, is a professional diver, historian, educator and advocate for the preservation of historical shipwrecks. He will highlight the rich maritime heritage found in shipwrecks. Join Art Cohn as he shares his experience working underwater to identify and preserve these priceless cultural legacies.
