Hudson Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival 2017

Look! Up in the sky! It’s the Hudson Valley Hot-Air Balloon Festival, hosted by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce from July 7 - 9. With 25 balloons, expect a great weekend with 100 launches! The festival at Barton Orchards in Poughquag puts the emphasis on family fun, from 10 am – sunset daily. How sensational does all this sound?

Catch live music from the Nashville Drive, Lucky House, Amish Outlaws, Vito Petroccitto, Louie Tunes, Cruise Control, Thunder Ridge, Guys Night Out, Biance Carano Acoustic, Bill’s Toupee, All Too Real, and Greyhounds.

Check out the Petting Zoo, Hayrides, Haunted House, Gem Stone Mining, Wooden Ships Playground and Shooting Gallery. Have fun on the Pedal Karts (adults & kids!), Trackless Train Ride, Cow Train, Bouncy Ponies and Bounce Pad. Explore the Rope Maze, Labyrinth, Right Turn Maze and the Big Tube Slides. Play Corn Hole, Ball Toss and Milk the Cow. See Talking Exhibits. All activities are included in the admission price; see schedule.

There’s a Bakery, Tap Room, & Farmer's Market. Concessions, Food Trucks and other vendors at 12noon. There’s fire pits to warm you in the evening! Friday AND Saturday nights, see fireworks, and catch the Moon Glow.

Afternoon launches are at 6:00 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; and Saturday & Sunday mornings at 6:00 am. The Festival runs Friday, 10am-10pm; Saturday, 5am gates open; admission for morning launches is free until 10am. On Saturday tickets are $10/advance, $12/gate, and $17.95 weekend passes accepted. Sunday, it’s $5 at gate. Go online for advance tickets. Info on launch times and delays is via the Chamber's Facebook page.

Want to take a ride in a hot-air balloon? Every day, take a Tethered Hot-Air Balloon Ride for $20 (cash-only at fest). Some Balloon Rides are available by advance purchase. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience! A balloon adventure is three hours from set-up through pack-up, with the flight lasting 45 minutes. You’ll return to the launch site in a chase vehicle. Signing up doesn’t guarantee you’ll fly, as flights are weather dependent and take off at the discretion of the pilot. Sometimes, due to weather or other conditions, balloons launch early, late, or not at all.

Check out the Helicopter Rides from Independent Helicopters on Friday from 2-5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12-5pm. The GPS is Barton Orchards, 63 Apple Tree Lane, Poughquag. For Off-Site Parking, use 331 Greenhaven Road, Poughquag.
