What are the lessons of the Holocaust? This program will explore some of the more difficult and challenging issues that are posed by the painful legacy of Hitler’s war against the Jews. During the discussion we will take a new look at some iconic works of Holocaust literature and film, discuss in depth the ability of literature and the cinema to capture and reflect the reality of the Holocaust, and examine critically the changing historical perspectives on the Holocaust coming out of the countries that have a special relationship to it: Germany and the United States.
