While some prefer to indulge in champagne, fancy dinners, and kissing strangers at midnight, some Japanese practice Kakizome, which translates to “first writing.” Learn to brush positive words for the new year at the Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center in Poughkeepsie. Free and open to all, materials provided.
