Jack is right—this is a great show to end a great year in the HV art community.

Your distinction between "Regional Art" and regional art is the most excellent introduction to this much needed conversation. (Thank you!) I must concede, however, that as long as we adhere to object-centered art, we are at a disadvantage in the general art market, simply because of the smaller pool of artists. No one can deny the tremendous energy of Bushwick.

What Hudson Valley does present, however, is the rare combination of well-preserved natural environment and the highest number of creative minds per capita. If we shift our focus from individuals and their objects to the invisible web of networks connecting us—a trend that was really begun by Transcendentalists and Hudson River School—we have a huge playground with powerful potential of affecting the society at large, far beyond adoring collectors' walls and fattening dealers' wallets (that could also happen as byproducts, and I wouldn't object :) ).
