Let's Make Plants

Mark Eisenhandler will start out covering a little about propagation techniques in general, including how one gets more plants in the garden and how to refresh old perennials, among other topics. He will then dive right into practical knowledge with discussion and demonstrations. Through slides and live action, the audience will learn some of the plant propagation techniques that the professionals use and more importantly, how to bring it home to their garden. The talk will focus on using horticultural best practices, discuss how to divide larger plants in situ, how to layer shrubs, splitting bulbs and tubers, and how to propagate new plants from cuttings. Basic seed starting techniques and tricks will also be covered. There will be a brief Q&A session before the day concludes with a horticultural quiz featuring some of the new plants made in the workshop as fabulous prizes.
