Gallery 1 - Nataliya Hines - “Lazarus Taxon” is an ode to human inventiveness and the fantastical imagery with which we populate our reality in the absence of answers to questions about our existence. Hines draws from her background in art history, adopting a language characteristic of academic portraiture and religious iconography. Her subjects invoke the folkloric traditions from eastern Europe, Scandinavia and the British Isles.
