Making its world premiere at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Luis Quintero’s new hip-hop version of Medea written in battle-rap verse sheds light on the classic tragedy of family, power, and revenge while illuminating the lengths that some will go for justice. “Medea: Re-Versed,” adapted from Euripides and co-conceived and directed by Nathan Winkelstein, is comparable to the brilliance of works like “Hamilton,” with Sarin Monae West as Medea, Stephen Michael Spencer as Jason, and Jacob Ming Trent as Creon bringing the biting lyrics and harrowing story to life.
