One of the most transcendent works of the twentieth century, Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time was written in a WWII prisoner of war camp, for the four instruments that happened to be available there: violin, cello, clarinet and piano. A deeply religious man, Messiaen was naturally drawn to thoughts of the apocalypse at that time, and created a work that evoked the terror and grandeur of the end of the world. Violinist Mari Lee leads a quartet of exceptional musicians to bring our audience to Messiaen’s incomparable vision of eternity.
