Music Across Borders – Baroque and Contemporary Eastern European Choral Works

Crescendo Chorus, soloists and period instrument orchestra present rarely heard Baroque and contemporary choral works from the Baltics and Eastern Europe. Transcending the borders of the countries we normally associate with great Baroque music, we will embark on a musical journey discovering how the Baroque style became a transnational cultural phenomenon, as composers constantly forged new connections among diverse cultural centers across borders. Baroque works from Poland, the Baltics, and Czechia will be contrasted with contemporary a cappella vocal works. A tribute to the rich Ukrainian choral tradition will be the contemporary work “Ukrainian Alleluia” by American composer Craig Courtney.
