Nap Eyes Tuck into Hudson Tonight

The new album by Nap Eyes sounds just right for those drizzly, dreary days when you wear your unshakable ennui like a bleak blanket. Lou Reed on a beautiful Berlin bum trip. Melancholy merriment, you know the deal. And tonight, the roundly praised indie band brings their brainy, Brechtian blend to the Half Moon.

Besides the Lou thing, the young Nova Scotian quartet has also landed likenings to poetic post-punks like the Verlaines, the Only Ones, Josef K, and the Go-Betweens, thanks to their sparse, angular-jangly guitars and singer Nigel Chapman’s monochromatic musings and confessional, conversational style. Nap Eyes are touring in support of their sophomore set, Though Rock Fish Scale.

Dig “Don’t Be Right” off the new album:

Nap Eyes will perform with Cian Nugent and Alexander Turnquist tonight at the Half Moon in Hudson, New York, at 8pm. Admission is $10. For more information, call (518) 828-1562 or visit http://thehalfmoonhudson.com/.
